Kioshi didn’t stand out, he wasn’t at the top of his class. He had always been average. Nothing out of the ordinary. So it came as a surprise when he received the mission scroll. Set a good example? Really? Shouldn’t they ask someone like the top of the brass kind of genin to do that?

Nevertheless, they had asked him and he needed the experience. It wasn’t much of a difficult task anyways. So he decided to go with it and do as directed.

Kioshi showed up on time. The class was already there and his former sensei expected him:

”Thanks for doing this Kioshi. Show them a few jutsus and inspire them”

His sensei was pretty confident that Kioshi could pull it off. Despite being average, he had the basics down now. Not to mention, he had recently added a slightly advanced jutsu to his arsenal too. A jutsu that he had come up with on his own. In other words, he could show off too.

So he started with a basic one and used transformation jutsu to look like his sensei. The class observed the hand signs and the result. They knew what the transformation jutsu was and the sensei had shown it to them before. But it was intriguing for them to see an age fellow do it.

Then, Kioshi showed off his custom barrier ninjutsu. He waved the hand sign and then created a single disc like barrier and jumped on top of it, thereby standing in mid-air. That earned him a nod of approval from his former sensei and quite a few “Ooohs” and “Aaaahs” from the class.

In the end, he got to set an example and the class got to see a recently graduated genin. Everybody won.
