A Day at the Walls [Solo] Empty A Day at the Walls [Solo]

Post by Kioshi Sat Aug 03, 2019 1:29 am

Shikigakure is the second largest shinobi village. Maintaining the security of such a territory wasn’t easy. Therefore, tasks like scouting the walls were pretty common for chuunins.

This was Kioshi’s first experience though. The task was simple, all he had to do was walk around in his designated area of the wall and keep a watchful eye on his surroundings. If anything out of the ordinary happened, then he just had to report it and the higher ranks would take care of it.

Kioshi didn’t possess a doujutsu or any sensing jutsu that would help him do this job marvelously. So he decided to give it his all and do the best average job that he could.

He arrived a few minutes early than he was supposed to and was off to a good start. The rest of the day, he just walked around.

In the beginning, he was paranoid. As if somebody would try to sneak by him transformed as a bird, or dog, or something like that. He didn’t have a jutsu to tell a transformed shinobi from a real dog, and that made him edgy.

Nevertheless, since nothing happened until the afternoon. His nerves calmed down.

”Although a sensing barrier would be very useful here. I think I can make do for now. But I must figure out a sensing barrier jutsu too”

Every mission was a learning experience for Kioshi. With each mission, he chalked down his shortcomings and then came up with a way to cover for them using barrier ninjutsu. That was his only trump card.

The afternoon turned to evening, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. Until late, when Kioshi’s shift was just about to end, some unusual people showed up to his side of the wall.

He was quick about it. He immediately raised a flag and waved it to his seniors before talking to the people. So if something were to happen to him, they’d be ready by then.

”Oi! Shinobi-san! We’ve lost our way!”

The man would shout at him.
”Head East, the gate is that way”
Kioshi would reply to them as he would also point in the right direction for a clearer reference. The group nodded and then headed in the pointed direction. Kioshi would attentively look at the group until they would disappear from his sight.

All the while, his mind would question, “Could this be a diversion?” “Is something bad about to happen?”

However, all of those thoughts turned to simple paranoia as nothing happened later on and Kioshi completed his shift.

He kept in touch with the news at the walls and found out that nothing happened afterwards either.
