Come Here You Stupid Bird! [C-rank|Solo] Empty Come Here You Stupid Bird! [C-rank|Solo]

Post by Kioshi Sat Jul 27, 2019 1:23 am

Shinobi didn’t use pagers, or the post office, or skype; they had messenger birds. The types of birds varied depending on the village and the demographics of the area. This particular bird was a pigeon. And it was a pigeon who had decided to go AWOL.

Now, the easier way would be to beat the crap out of that pigeon or kill it and recover the message. However, it appeared that the message was important so they needed to catch the bird instead. And that was assigned to Chunin level shinobi.

Why was Kioshi doing a Chunin rank mission on his own? Well because he had just levelled up. All those D-rank missions paid off.

The mission scroll had the description and the last known location of the bird. And Kioshi had a pretty neat barrier jutsu he thought that could help with the capture. Wearing only light weight gear, Kioshi arrived at the location written in the scroll. He was wear his version of the genin uniform.

It would’ve been easier if he had some doujutsu to help him track the bird. But he didn’t have one. And his last co-op mission with a doujutsu user revealed to him that even with doujutsu, things didn’t get easier. They had their own challenges too. So Kioshi tried asking some people around.

”So.. you think I sit around here looking at each flying pigeon and remembering its description?”

Inquired an angry old gentleman when Kioshi asked him about the pigeon. To be fair, that sounded like a logical argument and Kioshi immediately regretted his line of approach. Therefore, he decided to take to the rooftops. It was more likely that the bird was lounging around with some female pigeons doing all the pigeon-y things; what a bird brain it was.

After a few hours of jumping around on rooftops, lady luck smiled on Kioshi and he finally spotted the pigeon casually flying around with another group of pigeons. It looked like it had forgotten that it had a duty to do.

And then began Kioshi’s pursuit of the pigeon. He jumped off buildings and jumped into balconies, collided with clotheslines and angered quite a few ladies on their rooftops trying to hang their clothes to dry.

But the bird just continued to fly and evade him. It appeared that the bird was a lousy messenger but a good flyer.

So Kioshi finally resorted to his jutsu. He ran to the edge of a rooftop and instead of jumping off again, he stopped at the edge. By this time, the bird was quite arrogant so it started circling around. It didn’t care, there was a good distance between Kioshi and the bird; and it knew that Kioshi couldn’t jump that far. So it felt safe.

But Kioshi made a handsign and “poof” a barrier emerged right in front of the bird. Not expecting such a thing, the bird didn’t have enough time to put on the breaks, not that it had any, and thus collided into the heavenly construct jutsu. Thereby collapsing right into Kioshi’s arms. He grabbed the bird in an ethical way, retrieved the message from its foot just in case, and then escorted it like the criminal it was to the person who had assigned him the mission.

His work here as done. The barrier ninjutsu came in pretty handy. And with this experience, an idea of another jutsu began to concoct in his mind. A jutsu better suited to caging birds.
