Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

Post by Kioshi Tue Aug 06, 2019 12:30 pm

Another co-op mission. Kioshi had finally started to get missions with other shinobi. And as long as these shinobi weren’t excessively chatty, he was happy with that. Because he wasn’t the social type. But co-op missions helped him learn, explore, and see others in action. They opened the door for new experiences, and he was all about learning and new experiences.

For this mission, Kioshi had prepared early. It was in the forest, and he was happy around nature. This wasn’t a happy sort of mission though. Certain events had unfolded, and that had led to the death of two civilians. Death did not go unpunished. Not in the shinobi world.

Kioshi and his new colleague were supposed to find this Chuunin responsible for these deaths, and bring them to justice. The worst case scenario? They could end up fighting to the death. And death matches weren’t up Kioshi’s alley. Because he hadn’t been in one before. As signified by the fact that he was still alive.

Nevertheless, he was hoping that his colleague had more of the fighting part covered. He could provide support. Or when the opportunity presented itself, he had a justu that could contain the chuunin. That however, depended on how strong the chuunin was.

He had arrived an hour earlier and he stood at the edge of the forest. In order to help with tracking, which he had little to no knowledge of, he began to look around the forest ground. The mission said that the chuunin had been drunk. So it was highly unlikely that they had made the effort to hide their tracks.

Sure enough, after looking for a good five minutes, Kioshi found some tracks. Some broken twigs, and messed up bushes showed signs of a human passing by. This was their way in.

For now though, he waited. He still had to meet up with the other shinobi he was supposed to do the mission with.

”I hope this person doesn’t talk much. And knows tracking. And can fight.. wait, then why would they even need me anyways?”

For a moment, a puzzled look remained on his face. Until he answered his worries with the surety that his support skills were pretty useful and necessary for this mission.

But really, were they?

Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Re: Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

A human killing another human, worse- a civilian. Worse than beasts. At least beasts killed for purpose and survival. Humans though... They killed for sport and needlessly. The Shinju clan had learned such nasty habits from humans... and Nana was one such Shinju. A pleasant sight to the eyes. A smooth musical voice to the ears. A heart-warming cheerful attitude to be around. Or at least, that was the first layer of Nana, the surface. This was how she fit in with the "normal" life of humans... Although she liked little more than to toy with them for entertainment. This mission was perfect for her, subduing or killing a murderous and traitorous human shinobi of the rank Chuunin. This could be a lot of fun... Or not. It depends on whoever I'm assigned to do this mission with. she thought to herself as she stepped lightly through the forest.

She was barefoot. Ninja sandals were nice and all, but they made more noise when walking. Plus it was more difficult to sneak about. She preferred to not wear them, much like clothing itself. The Shikikage and the Kijin insisted that she wear clothes however, so that was a must. To that end, she wore a jacket. A large overcoat with extravagant buttons and tassels. White in color on the outside and a black color on the inside. A red band crossed her left arm sleeve as she was cosplaying some "Discipline committee" from an anime or manga. That was all she wore however. No clothing underneath. Stark naked. She had the jacket buttoned up almost all of the way, at least up to her bosom. Her weapon remained inside her jacket, hidden from view.

She watched the individual with beast-like hungry eyes, even before he saw her. He was the prey... Not the target, but prey nonetheless. She would step lightly from behind a tree, to the side of Kioshi's peripheral vision as to not suddenly startle him. Her pink hair being a bright contrast tot he greenery of the environment. Two small red horns protruded from her head- evidence that she belonged to the despised Shinju's beast clan. She would smile at him, in a disarming manner as she waved gently with a small tilt of her head. "Hello. I am your partner for this mission. Nana is my name!~"

Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Re: Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

Post by Kioshi Wed Aug 07, 2019 12:59 pm

With hair brighter than the surroundings, and a very odd choice of attire, Kioshi’s partner for the mission appeared on the scene.

He was crouching on the ground, looking at the tracks that he had just found. So he stood up, and bowed a little, greeting her formally in response to her introduction:

”Kioshi. I’ll be relying on you then, Nana-chan”

She smiled, so he smiled back in reply. He was a simple being. Not really aware of Nana’s nature. In fact, he wasn’t familiar with the Shijin clan either. So the choice of attire and the two horns caught him off guard. However, he made a mental note to himself not to stare at them. It would be wrong. And he made another mental note not to stare at the revealing parts of her skin, which happened to be quite a bit.

This was definitely going to be a challenging mission for Kioshi.

He would point at the tracks that he had just found, to share intel and make sure that they two had the same starting point:

”Tracks. Probably of the chuunin we’re looking for.”

Why did he assume that these tracks belonged to the chuunin? Because they showed signs of someone in a hurry. The owner of the tracks had made no effort to steady his foothold or to hide his tracks. Therefore, Kioshi came to the conclusion that these belonged to the chuunin they were after. However, he had no substantial evidence to suggest that they indeed were. The only other thing was gut feeling. And since he was quite in-tune with nature, he felt that he was right.

Kioshi would then wait for Nana to analyze the tracks, if she chose to. And then, he would suggest that the group began their pursuit. He had no sensory or tracking abilities, so just to be sure, he would ask her if she had any:

”Nana-chan, I don’t have any tracking jutsus. Do you have any skill that can help with tracking this fellow?”

If she said yes, then he would let her lead the search. If her reply was a “No”, then he would have no choice but to follow the tracks that he had just happened upon. And hope, that they end up finding the guy or girl, they were looking for.

She cocked her head to the side in a slightly silly manner as they smiled at each other. She accepted his introduction and even nodded to him as he said he would rely on her. "Mmm Okay! You can count on me, Kioshi-kun!" she would say, almost purring with delight and bounced closer to him with seemingly innocent and childlike intent. Kioshi was studying the tracks on the ground, so she bent down and put a finger on her chin as she stared at the pile of leaves and broken twig. It looked like she was thinking really hard, maybe Kioshi would think she was an airhead or something. After a few seconds of silence, she would raise her finger from her chin in excitement as her eyes danced playfully towards Kioshi. "Oh! Well I'm used to living in the forest and I have a strong sense of smell. Does that count?" she would ask almost as if a rhetorical question, but her tone and facial expression would lead Kioshi to dismiss the idea of a rhetorical question. Despite her true age, which was unknown to almost anyone. Surely Kioshi would have believed she was much too naïve or innocent for the role of a shinobi.

Maybe he would have something to say, but she would begin to move swiftly in the direction they were supposed to go. If he spoke to her, she would respond while dashing slightly ahead of him. Possibly he would have a hard time following her, as he would have to look forward- with her being in the lead, parts of her body would be much more revealing as she dashed swiftly in only the large coat. Seemingly innocent and unaware of that fact, she would hum a happy tune, louder than necessary. If their target was nearby, he might even hear her humming and ruin their element of surprise. That was her plan after all. Ambushes were fun, be she loved a good chase. She was just itching to draw some blood. Kioshi was too cute to harm after all. That left their target with the full brunt of Nana's playful fury.

Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Re: Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

Post by Kioshi Fri Aug 09, 2019 11:15 am

Playful, naïve, young, and bright as the new sun, Nana-chan gave the shinobi-image a total makeover. Kioshi couldn’t wrap his around it: why did she even become a shinobi at all? Was she even the right age?

Nevertheless, she had the skills they needed for this mission. Her question was odd though. She had a good sense of smell, so her question was of rather a rhetorical nature. To reply, Kioshi only nodded. However, she didn’t even wait to see that happen. As her question concluded, she was off. And Kioshi was playing catch-up after that.

Though, she wasn’t easy on him. Her attire was too revealing. And the way she ran. Kioshi learned that she was going full commando underneath that long coat. As a response to that, his nose bled but he was too busy to notice that. Until he ran and ran, and suddenly felt a little light headed. Then he noticed that his nose was bleeding. Why?

Well, let’s just say certain parts of Nana-chan’s revealing skin were to blame. And her care-free nature was also a contributing factor.

Nevertheless, Kioshi struggled to keep up. But one way or the other, he stayed within visual range of Nana-chan. To his confusion, she hummed, as if to purposefully alarm their target of their arrival. Why would she do that? He did not know. To him, these actions felt naïve. You see, Kioshi, came from a humble beginning. And he had not yet experienced the darkness of the shinobi world. Therefore, he couldn’t even begin to imagine the possibility that maybe Nana-chan’s personality had another side to it.

While Kioshi stopped for a moment, cleaned up his nose bleed, and then proceeded to chase after Nana-chan, he would notice something in the trees above. Not something, actually someone. And this someone, was exactly the one these two were looking for.

The chuunin who had killed two civilians.

”Shit!”

Noticing Kioshi’s gaze upon him, the criminal would begin running away from the man and the attractive lady with barely anything on her. Her attractive and rather alluring choice in attire would slow the chuunin down. As he would indulge himself in some not-so-innocent thoughts for a few moments. A few moments, that costed him his advantage in the chase.

These moments would be enough for Nana to close the distance between her and chuunin, if she so chose.

Kioshi on the other hand, prepared to provide support. His go to jutsu in this situation? The one he called “Bird Cage”. If he Nana provided him the chance, he would immediately make a barrier around the chuunin and the chuunin would end up getting caught in a cage with no escape.

Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Re: Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

Post by Nana Sat Aug 10, 2019 9:20 pm

Of course she had noticed Kioshi's struggle to keep up with her... Not that she needed a handicap to slow him down. She was physically stronger than Kioshi. He was only a human after all. No, this form of slowing him down was only a game to Nana, a teasing game to see just how innocent the young man really was. Though playful, she was as much studying Kioshi as she was eager for a game of chase with their target.

She could smell them, both of the men within her proximity as she dashed forward. Not her full speed, she at least wanted Kioshi to think he as only a little slower than her. Men had a certain musk to them and that made it convenient for Nana to know when they entered the vicinity with the Chuunin. She could smell him, but Kioshi was the first to see him. He blurted out a curse word and Nana immediately tensed. Her gaze shifted in the direction Kioshi had turned and she quickened her pace to close the distance. She didn't want Kioshi to apprehend him before she could have her fun.

Though she closed in quickly, the gap would be enough to give Kioshi the incentive to use his bird cage technique. A technique Nana had not been expecting, as she released her own attack. A finger twitched inside the sleeves of her jacket as the invisible chakra stringers tugged at something beneath her jacket. Suddenly, a black chain would appear from underneath her jacket and quickly close the distance to the Chuunin. The chain would reach him just as Kioshi would apply his bird cage technique, stopping the Chuunin as the chain snaked up and around his legs, to fully wrap around him. By the time the bird cage would close, Nana's chain puppet would begin to spin slowly at first- then violently as the blades embedded into the chain would shred the man to pieces as he screamed in terrorized agony. Then, there was silence. The only remains of the Chuunin was a barrier ninjutsu full of eviscorated gusts and oozing blood. Nana would land on a branch near the barrier ninjutsu place spit out her tongue to the left side of her plush lips. Her right hand making a motion as if she was slapping herself on the head- a silly spectacle as if she was saying "Oops!" "I think that worked out a little too well, Kioshi-kun!~" she would say, a small purr on her tone, her lips trying hard to hide a smile.

Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Re: Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

Post by Kioshi Sun Aug 11, 2019 2:21 pm

Kioshi had been a shinobi for quite a while by now. He had been on several mission. Some of them had been B-Rank missions too. And he had fought bandits, and other shinobi on occasions too. But never had he taken someone’s life.

This, although indirectly, was Kioshi’s first kill.

It wasn’t plan. And he didn’t expect things to turn out this way. He actually aimed to incapacitate and capture. It happened so fast that he couldn’t see it. The moment his barrier completely formed, the helpless chuunin was butchered. Sure, he had taken the lives of two innocent civilians but he deserved a trial. This was not how things were done in Shikigakure. It wasn’t as brutish as other villages. They had systems. They studied medicine. They had laws.

But, this mission allowed them to kill. Kioshi just assumed that it was wrong. This was his first encounter with the true dark path that shinobi walked on. Nana-chan had introduced him to it.

For Kioshi, this was like getting hit by a train.

[color=#800080]”What?!”[color]

His brain lagged for several seconds until he finally pieced together what he had just helped with. He had helped take the life of someone. That was what his barrier ninjutsu could do. The chuunin had nowhere to go. His physical strength wasn’t able to break through, and Nana’s attack prevented him from using any jutsu in time.

He was caught. Like a bird in a cage. But this cage had a cat in it too. That ripped the bird apart.

Once the deed was done, Nana-chan eloquently appeared in front of him. She nonchalantly declared that it was almost too easy. Kioshi’s response was:

”Huh? Oh.. uhh. Yes”

His gaze turned from the pool of blood in the barrier to Nana-chan and the barrier was then deactivated. The pool of blood poured onto the forest floor making a squishy sound as the organs fell and then the blood flowed, making the sound of viscous liquid flowing on the ground. He felt sick. But he couldn’t act that way in front of another shinobi.

”I couldn’t have done that without you Nana-chan. Arigato”

But she could have easily done this one without Kioshi. He clearly felt irrelevant here. She was a genin. But she in a league of her own. Kioshi realized that in the race of being a better shinobi, he was falling behind. He needed more power, more strength, more abilities.

This was the one thing he thought he was suitable for. How could he fall behind other in this one thing?

After thanking Nana-chan, he would wait if she wanted to say something or speak to him. If not, he would bow and take his leave. He needed quite a bit of alone time after this experience. He needed to work on himself. And his abilities.

Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission Empty Re: Life for a Life [Kioshi | Nana] | B-Rank Mission

Post by Nana Sun Aug 11, 2019 2:57 pm

The sound of the gore falling from the disappearing barrier and splattering on the forest floor, it was such a satisfying sound. Although she kept up her child-like innocent persona, she was watching Kioshi like a hungry beast. His eyes said so much, but he contained his composure. It was quite possible that this was his first kill, albeit indirect. As he would bow, she would bow too, her jacket nearly becoming unbuttoned as she did. "Thanks for the help, Kioshi-kun! You can rely on me anytime you need!~" she would coo softly, trying to soothe the turmoil that the virgin killer was probably experiencing.

As Kioshi would leave, she would twitch her finger, retracting her chain puppet from the pile of bloody gore. She had left it laying there to not cover herself in blood in front of Kioshi. Now that he was gone however... she touched her tongue to the flat parts of her chain, licking it clean of fresh blood. Cleaning it before she wrapped it back up beneath her jacket. The Chuunin was dead and his corpse was beyond recovery. Nor could any enemy collect details in such a gruesome manner. It was time to return to the village of humans.
