”And that is why the orphanage is struggling, despite the fact that we have our own plantation. That’s why we need your help talented shinobi”

Once again, the kind old care taker of the orphanage explained the contents of the mission. It was a rather simple one: help the orphanage with their crops. They had too many weeds. And those weeds needed to be pulled. And since they were shorthanded, they were asking shinobi to help them out.

Kioshi felt bad getting paid by the orphanage. Instead of getting paid, he decided to do this one for the experience and let the orphanage use their funds elsewhere. He wasn’t an orphan, his parents and family were alive and well.

Although he was an unusual one, he was raised right. And he knew better than to take from people who had little for themselves.

So he got to work. The task at hand was to rid three garden beds of weed. To be honest, Kioshi had little to no knowledge about crops. And once or twice (actually it was a lot more than that), he ended up damaging the crops and getting scolded by young orphans.

But they realized he meant well, so they forgave him. And decided to teach him about plants and the weeds he needed to pick. His lack of information about plants consumed time but he didn’t let that get in his way. Instead, he continued to push forward and kept on learning and working. The orphans and the people of the orphanage nodded in approval.

As the sun set, Kioshi, drenched in his sweat, finally completed the task.

The caretaker happily decided to pay him for the task. He simply shook his head, then shook her hand, and walked away; fading into the sun set like the hero that he really wasn’t.
