Shikigakure
Village hidden in Medicine

The village of Shikigakure was dubbed the "village hidden in medicine" for its very ambiguous beginnings. Although technically Shikigakure was the third great village to be founded, following Chozogakure. Shikigakure was known to have unified most of its lands under peaceful rule. The principle behind their unity was that of medicine and good will towards each other, unlike Johogakure and Chozogakure. Wars and skirmishes were very few and far between - so much so that several generations of the land didn't even understand the concept of war or combat. The village itself was founded shortly before the terrible One Year War: the people of the land, unanimously choosing a princess from the royal family to serve as the first Shikikage. Tomo Hyuga. The ambiguous name of the village resulting in a play on words shared between the villages of Johogakure and Chozogakure. Although the two villages were always fighting, they agreed that the neutral land was full of as much death as it did life.

The alternate meaning to Shikigakure being "Village hidden in Life and Death" Through the village's many years before birth, the practice of healing and medicine were widespread- so too was poison. The other edge of the sword as it were, and even the two other kage feared the use of Shikigakure's poisons. Another reason they brokered a peace treaty with Shikigakure.

The main reason neither Johogakure or Chozogakure chose to attack Shikigakure though, was the strange willingness of the village to aid the wounded. Although the two warring villages never stopped fighting, Shikigakure willingly and selflessly took in the wounded from both lands and saved as many lives as possible. To this day, the eldest can still remember the treatment they received and are grateful for such a tranquil village. The story of their first princess, Tomo Hyuga and the poisoning of the first Chozokage is still a famous story within the village. At the time, poisons had been frowned upon, but the first princess Shikkiage changed the views and convinced the villagers that poisons were a necessary evil against the two warring villages. This was mostly because for many generations, Shikigakure was a land full of peaceful people who didn't know how to fight properly.

Through the village's treaties with Johogakure and Chozogakure, the village possessed many generations of peace and tranquility. Their criminals were exiled to Chozogakure's notorious prison, and Johogakure provided them with technology and tools for perfecting the craft of medicine. To this day, Shikigakure still retains a position of neutrality between both villages and willingly treats victims from both wars.

The most memorable event being the One Year War itself, the newly born village of Shikigakure served as disaster relief for the neutral lands between the borders of Johogakure and Chozogakure that were ravaged during that one year period. Many would say it was thanks to Shikigakure that anyone remained alive in that war at all. While that neutral land harbors extreme hatred for the two warring villages, they are grateful to Shikigakure and the aid provided.

Geography
Shikigakure is considered the village with the second largest landmass. Only second to Chozogakure. Due to CHozogakure's wasteland environment however, Shikigakure is known as the richest on nations. The majority of the land belonging to the village is large forests, unnaturally large. Many large and small bodies of water can be found throughout the land, but not much cultivation or civilization have been founded around the edges closer to the sea. The reason for this is that the majority of the people of the land have all amassed together in harmony and brotherhood at the heart of the land. There is a place within Shikigakure's borders that the village considers a national treasure- the Dark Forest. Aptly named for how enormous the forest is. The trees are so large and thick that they block out most of the sun's natural lighting. Instead, it is lit by many types of glowing mushrooms. Rare and exotic herbs and animals reside in the forest, remaining as the village's primary source for medicines and poisons.
