New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
- Mission 1:
Name: Defeat the thugs
Rank: C-Rank
Location: Any Village
Reward: 100 exp, 200 ryo, 400 word count
Description: A group of thugs have declared a shop belongs to them and have barred entry of employees and customers. Go teach them thugs a lesson. Try not to break any of the merchandise.
Kuro arrived at the designated meeting point. He was given orders to meet here for some C-ranked missions today, he was being assigned a partner to aid in his first higher ranked missions. It was common for the more inexperienced shinobi to be assigned to teams, but something this temporary such as a partnership was somewhat unusual. Either way, he was in his normal outfit, his white button up shirt, with the black jacket over it. His white hair shaggy and not styled in any way hung almost over his pink eyes. He simply sat on a bench holding the mission scroll waiting for whoever it was that was supposed to meet him there. He wasn't a huge fan of having to work on a team, but he would do whatever he had to in order to accomplish his mission.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
The unsocial and introverted genin was on the move again. This mission was actually different than his last few ones. So far, he had walked dogs, pulled weeds, and searched for cats. This one was of a rather serious nature. They had to take care of some thugs. So yes, some actual fighting would be involved.
The tricky part was that they also had to make sure not to damage their surroundings. Now, that was the real challenge. Fighting people isn’t easy to begin with but fighting them while protecting something, that’s even harder.
Dressed in his genin uniform, which comprised of quite a bit of purple, Kioshi arrived at the location he was supposed to meet a senpai. This kind of mission was a bit above Kioshi’s pay grade. And he wasn’t good enough to do it on his own. So, he was told that a rather experienced shinobi would lead the way. And he would have to do his part.
He hoped that he could perform as was expected of him.
Kioshi would appear from a roof top and make his way towards the senpai. The two were nearby the shop that housed the thugs.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
Kuro watched as someone approached him from a nearby rooftop. It would appear that he was in fact misreading the mission he had gotten, and in fact, he was to be the senpai on this mission. He gave the one approaching him a once over before standing. The boy looked just a little bit younger than he was, but it didn't make much of a difference in these times. Shinobi often varied in age. Regardless, he would approach the boy. "I am Kuro, I will be leading this mission I suppose. I presume you are familiar with the mission parameters?" It was important to establish a baseline of information. He would need to make sure this kid was on the same wavelength as he was so that they could function as a proper team.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
And the two members of the shinobi team had met. When asked the question, Kioshi responded in a very Kioshi-like way: by nodding twice. And that was it.
You see, Kioshi was the classic introvert and socially inept kind of fellow. He wouldn’t speak much unless he felt that words were necessary. In this case, he concluded that it was a simple yes or no question. Now if his senpai had asked him to explain the mission, that would need words. But thankfully, he didn’t do that. So Kioshi didn’t had to speak.
Would such a response frustrate a senior shinobi? Probably. Nobody said Kioshi was easy to get along with.
Nevertheless, Kioshi was a trust worthy fellow though. He may not speak much but he was the type to take care of those who walked the same path as he did. And in this mission, their goal was the same, their targets were the same, and thus their paths were the same.
”The plan?”
Two words that were meant to clarify Kioshi’s intentions. He was here to do a job and that was what he was focused on. His senpai was taking the lead, in other words, he would tell Kioshi his role. And Kioshi’s responsibility would be to fulfill the role to the best of his abilities.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
Kuro was satisfied with the non-verbal response. Being one who did not speak much himself, he could respect a fellow introvert. But, it was his role to lead the mission, and given the follow-up question, it would seem that he was the one who would need to come up with their plan of battle. He thought for a moment, he didn't know much about his new partner's skills, but he knew that he, himself, didn't have many skills outside of what was taught at the academy. So, realistically, the two of them should be counted as fairly weak, not taking into account brute physical strength. "I suppose that we should take a direct approach, since i'm not sure of your skills, and I have no skills outside of some basic level taijutsu. Just, make sure that we avoid damaging any of the shops wares." It was a simple plan, but to go against untrained thugs, it wouldn't take much more than someone of their current level to deal with them. He would motion towards the shop in a manner to say, 'I'll follow your lead.'

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
Simple plan. Sometimes, that’s what it took. And this seemed like one of those times. It was two shinobi, one genin and another chuunin, versus untrained thugs. Thugs, who relied on brute strength. So if the two could use their academy jutsus right, they had the upper hand.
Kioshi merely nodded when Kuro stated his observation. The two didn’t know each other, and they didn’t know each other’s strength or weakness. Now, the obvious work around this would be to tell one another. But, these two weren’t the talkative type. So, normal or obvious didn’t work for them.
Kuro motioned Kioshi to move forward, and Kioshi complied. He had his instructions: fight but don’t break anything. Simple indeed.
So Kioshi charged forward but he couldn’t break the door of the shop. Therefore, he opened it and walked inside. There were four thugs awaiting the arrival of the genins. They were tall, not quite on the handsome side, and muscular. In terms of numbers and brute strength, Kioshi immediately deducted that they were outmatched.
The only way to beat them was to play it smart.
With that in mind, he charged at one of them. Surprised, the thug arrogantly opened his arms. As if attempting to grab Kioshi in a bear hug and crush his mortal body. But Kioshi had other plans. The moment Kioshi would run right into the man’s arms, the arms would close in and Kioshi would shrink into a small mouse (transformation jutsu).
Surprised, the man would look down only to be greeted by an uppercut as Kioshi would switch back from the transformation jutsu back to his original size. That was a simple application of transformation jutsu in this situation.
The other three prepared to take on Kioshi, and all eyes were on him now. The perfect opportunity for Kioshi’s ally to take the stage.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
Kuro watched the battle as it started, it would seem that his ally was rather crafty. Well, Kuro wasn't nearly as cunning at using jutsu and the like as is ally, so he went straight for the taijutsu approach. Rushing in through the now open door and taking advantage of the three now distracted thugs, he would jump into the air and deliver a spinning roundhouse to the first thug he approached, hitting him right on the side of the head. The second thug seemed to take notice and decided to split up two thugs per one ninja, should make it easy enough, right? The thug raised his hand to punch the kid who had just knocked his buddy to the ground, only to find the kid was now behind him, and then under him, delivering a sweeping kick, knocking him off his feet as well. He then found a chop directly in his throat, causing breathing to become increasingly difficult. He hoped his allies were faring better than he.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
And so his comrade did take center stage and took down yet another one of the thugs while engaging another one. Consequently, Kioshi ended up facing another big muscular thug. This time, he didn’t have the element of surprise. Therefore, things were not going to be as easy as the first time.
Unlike his senpai, Kioshi had no taijutsu techniques. He had no ninjutsu either or genjutsu or anything useful in this situation. The only things in his arsenal were the academy jutsu they had learned. And of course, the basic training they had which did include some part taijutsu. Enough for him to get by.
He had to come up with another plan and this time, he had to do it on the fly while fending off big punches from a big enemy.
The thug moved quite fast for his size. He moved forward attempting to grab Kioshi. Kioshi, as a reflex, jumped back and accidentally touched a vase. This vase, 6 feet in height and 3 feet in width, was oddly shaped and it toppled but Kioshi immediately turned to grab it. He remembered his instructions: do not break anything.
The thug didn’t care for that. He grabbed Kioshi by the neck and deadlifted him over his head. Right before Kioshi was lifted off his feet, he managed to topple the vase back and put it in its place unharmed. The thug slammed Kioshi’s now lifeless body on the ground as he bounced off a couple of times before coming to a dead stop.
Satisfied, the thug smiled and nodded with approval as he looked at the lifeless body of the shinobi. The body though, turned into smoke and a carpet roll appeared in its place. Kioshi had just used the substitution jutsu, just in time too.
The real Kioshi was behind the thug. He jumped and tried to knock down the thug by chopping the back of his neck. Though damaging, it wasn’t enough. Angrily, the thug swung his arm and this time it connected with the real Kioshi.
Kioshi was pushed a good two feet as he absorbed the blow. He could only get his left arm up to absorb the impact. It was painful and this wasn’t going to be easy.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
Once Kuro had dealt with his two thugs, he would turn to see how his partner was coming along. Seeing the acrobatic maneuver to save the vase from breaking, Kuro would rush to his partners defense, he had dealt some damage to the hulking thug, but he didn't seem to have the strength to pull off a full on knock out. But, Kuro had the advantage here. He rushed forwards, his goal a quick incapacitation on the distracted thug. Rushing in, he would preform a sweeping low kick to bring the thugs feet out from under him. When his head hit the ground, Kuro finished up with slamming his heel into the thugs throat to put him down. Walking over to his partner to check on his welfare. "Are you alright? I didn't expect these thugs to be so large." He had to admit they were even large for him. "I suppose we can go turn in this mission now, if you wish." It was a rather simple mission, but simple didn't always mean easy.

Re: New Friend and a Mission [OPEN]
Kioshi struggled with his opponent. To be honest, he was running out of ideas until help arrived. His senpai made short work of the muscular thug. And finally, the little skirmish was over. The shop was freed from the thugs and no damage was dealt to the shop. It was a win-win situation.
When questioned that whether he was alright, Kioshi replied with a “thumbs-up” signifying that he was A-ok. Sure, he wasn’t a 100% but the damage wasn’t a cause for concern. It was a part of the job. His left arm had been bruised but the rest was okay. If he had been hurled like the carpet though, it probably would’ve turned out quite differently. Thankfully, it didn’t have to.
His senpai offered to turn in the mission and Kioshi couldn’t agree more. This had been fun but he needed to lie down a little. He had come face to face with his weakness, and he had to admit that it wasn’t fun. He had to become stronger. He had to learn a way to fight. If close combat wasn’t his thing, if taijutsu wasn’t his thing, then what was it? What could he develop to truly contribute to missions and tasks as a shinobi?
This was the starting point of Kioshi’s journey to becoming a more technically astute shinobi. For now though, they had to turn in the mission.
So in reply to Kuro’s question, he nodded and then spoke:
”I’m Kioshi by the way. It was nice working with you senpai”
