Rei stood at the edge of a thick forest, peering off into the distance. From his position, he was still far away from the location he was supposed to recon. It might have been easier with just him, but the villages had agreed to a joint recon operation and entrusted him to heading the mission. The other two shinobi- well, one was from his own village. The second was from Shikigakure. He knew little to nothing about these two shinobi, even the one in his village. Aside from the name Homra Uchiha. If they show up without the scroll, I'll kill them. He decided on the spot, simple as that. If they couldn't follow simple instructions, they'd only slow him down if this mission was somewhat true to the rumors he had been hearing since refugees poured into the village earlier that morning.

He was waiting at the designated point, he had arrived about an hour earlier than scheduled. He didn't like being the second or last to show up in an unknown setting. He wore his long white puffy robe as usual, his hands hidden beneath the sleeves. That was just his fighting style, to prevent others from anticipating his movements by hiding his handseals beneath large sleeves. Finally, when the other two would arrive, he would casually step out from behind a tree he was hiding behind and greet them with a friendly smile and a wave of his overly-long sleeves arm. "Greetings! I assume you have the documents?" he would ask as he stuck his hands in his pouch casually as if he were reaching for his own scroll to compare. Instead, his right hand was reaching int his clay pouch, ready to use it on them if they didn't procure the proper documents- meanwhile, his left hand would make the subtle move to procure his own scroll in case they got suspicious.

If they produced the scrolls for him to inspect, he would then continue. As he took his hand out of his clay pouch, he would stow his own scroll and speak once again. "I am Special Jounin Rei Kaguya of Johogakure. I'll be in charge of this recon mission. Please introduce yourselves and give me a vague assessment of your skills so we may work together."

The day was blissful for Homura. The sun was out and the clouds were drifting wonderfully/lazily in the sky. Everything appeared right in the world. And yet, rumors had it that things weren't right at all. Refugees from a village suddenly arrived in Johogakure. Stories from those refugees started to spread about a terrifying monster, a demon from the very pits of hell, and a Bijuu terrorizing their land. Of course, Homura had never heard of any of this before. A demon? A monster? Those were things that didn't exist in this day and age, not unless they were referring to a shinobi. And, just what in the hell was a "Bijuu"? Of course, Homura had questions, but she was sure a newly turned Chuunin like her wouldn't be allowed the answers she sought. So, imagine her surprise when she was immediately given a mission to go out and investigate what was happening. There was no way she could turn down this amazing opportunity!

Homura landed at the meeting point with a hard thud. The grass and dirt around her kicked up once her feet touched the ground. She hadn't wasted any time coming out to meet with her assigned squad. In fact, she was in such a hurry that she barely rested on her way over here. She hurried as quick as she could. When she finally made it, she was nearly breathless. For today she brought her usual wear, her red jacket with the Uchiha insignia on the back and her red top underneath. She wore a short white skirt around her thighs with some spats to allow her swift movement. Her feet were covered with the natural shinobi issued sandals that every ninja wore. On her head, displayed proudly, was her military hat with the headband for Johogakure wrapped around it. Instead of the usual shinobi tool pouch, Homura had a large backpack with many provisions and devices inside of it, included her very own cloak which she often used to hide from her teachers whenever they wanted to punish her.

"Where the heck is everyone? Tch." Homura looked around to see who had arrived. It appeared she was the first person here. Or so she thought. Her heart nearly exploded from her body when the slim figure of a tall man with white hair suddenly slithered from out of a tree. "Woah! What in the world!" Homura broke off into a fighting stance out of pure defense for herself. How could this guy just jump out from nowhere like that? It was super creepy. Then he mentioned something about the documents. "The what? What are you talking about?" Homura boldly stated, confused by his words. But then, "Oh, you mean this?" she carelessly presented the scroll her village gave her.

With the greetings done, the man jumped straight to business. He introduced himself as Rei Kaguya, a Special Jounin from Johogakure. Oh, so he was from Homura's village. That made him alright in her book. When he was done speaking, Homura introduced herself. "The name's Homura Uchiha. Yo." She wasn't formal at all. She held one hand behind her head and lazily dug her finger through her ear as she gave the man her information. She didn't look interested at all to speak with him. "I'm a Chuunin of Johogakure. As for my skills. Uh... Let me think. Uh..." It took a while for her to think up a proper skill. Her head literally began turning red as she thought as hard as she could. Finally, when she imagined up a good skill she had, she proudly stated it for Rei to hear. "I can beat a bastard up real good!" Okay, maybe that wasn't a skill to be impressed by, but try telling that to Homura. She had settled back against a tree with a satisfied grin, which showed that she was proud of her answer.

"So I guess we gotta go look at things and check out this Bii-... This Bii-... Uh, what was it called again? A Bee-jew? Well, whatever it is, we gotta scope it out and report it to our villages, right?"

The day in Shiki was very hot due to the humidity from the rain from a couple of days before hand as it didn’t bother Makoto. He was excited due to a new mission that he had been selected for that had to deal with something named a Bijuu as it was a partner mission that formed a team of 3 ninja. Makoto had been informed that he was the only ninja that would be coming out of Shikigakure. That didn’t bother him any as this would be his first interaction with people outside of his village. When it came down to it, Makoto really didn’t know much about the other villages other than that Shiki was an ally to both as the other two villages didn’t particularly like each other but Chozo wouldn’t be involved with the current mission due to location of this so called Bijuu. It seemed to border Shiki and Joho which is why they decided on a partner mission.

Makoto would grab his things from his room as he wore something basic but not out of line for the mission he was asked to do. He had on his regular old ninja pants along with a white t-shirt and a black jacket covering the shirt partially. His sandals were on as always and his hair was ice white and shaggy, which was unlike any Hyuga ever born. Makoto would begin to make his way to the location of the meeting as he wondered on who his teammates were and what made them strong. Makoto’s memory from the academy would be the thing he usually pulled on to use for these sorta things but his memory from then wasn’t that great. He only knew of a couple clans outside of the Hyuga, one of them being the Uchiha clan, famed for their doujutsu as were the Hyuga, labeled the Sharingan. It carried many powers and is a force to be reckoned with. The other main clan that Makoto learned from class that he remembered from the top of his head was the Senju, the users of wood style. But other than that, everything else was a blur. Around 20 minutes before arriving to the location of the meeting Makoto would activate his Byakugan, not that he didn’t trust his new teammates, but anything was possible especially when dealing with a beast of this caliber of strength, or so they said.

Makoto would be the last person to arrive but probably the second to the girl who was standing there by herself. Makoto had noticed the man with the white hair behind the tree with his Byakugan but decided not to mention it, it was surely a waste of time as Makoto wanted to get to the actual mission. Makoto would pull the scroll out of his pocket and give it to the man. He seemed friendly enough but quite strong as well as his chakra system was fairly strong, this was not someone Makoto wanted to fight. The girl wasn’t as strong as Makoto but wasn’t fair off from what Makoto could tell, but she looked close to his age, a lot closer than the man was as Makoto was only 15. He would stand with his hands in his pockets as everyone introduced each other. The first one would happen to be Rei Kaguya, although Makoto couldn’t remember his clan earlier in the day, he remembered now due to his white hair. The Kaguya was the white-haired guys with bone moves, totally fire combos if you asked Makoto personally. The girl happened to be an Uchiha which Makoto could've figured out without her saying as she had the clan symbol on her back, and she fit the mold.

Makoto would clear his throat as he spoke up, but still keeping his hands within his pants. “Makoto Hyuga, I'm a Special Jounin from Shikigakure. I am strong in Taijutsu.” This would be obvious though due to his clan, and if anybody knew anything about Hyuga’s outside of the Byakugan, it was that they are trained in gentle fist out the womb.

Even as he spoke, the third and final member of their trio arrived: quite obviously a Hyuga, for he had the Byakugan active even before he had come into Rei's sense of awareness. A cautious one.. this one. he thought to himself as he listened to the Uchiha girl drone on before finally coming up with a solid answer to her skills. While he listened to Homura, he just continued to smile like a fox as he reached into both his clay pouch and his pant pocket- retrieving both some clay, which the mouth in his hand promptly ate before exiting the bag, with his other hand producing and his own mission scroll. He doubted these two young shinobi knew what clay art was, but just in case- he played it off casually. Even though he was already anticipating to blow Homura up seconds before she finally gave him a semi-solid answer to work with.

He would inspect the scrolls given to him by the two younger shinobi. He eyes them with a suspicious gaze for a moment, assessing them simply by their posture and aura. A Special Jounin at age fifteen. Not bad. I suspect this Chuunin Uchiha has more bite than her bark too. They seem decent for their level of skill, but if the reports are true... We will be facing something unlike any of us have experienced before. He thought to himself before he rolled the three scrolls up into one hand, raised it up slightly and off to the side from where the white haired boy and raven black haired girl stood in front of him. 

The mouth in his hand opened wide and pat out a small bird, which immediately expanded to its large form. An easy five meters in wingspan and height. "A pleasure to meet you both. We will ride my bird near the designated point, where I will drop both of you off. Homura, you take the West and Makoto, you take the East. Circle about the large area and make your way to the village on the other side of the supposed Bijuu." he would explain the plan and bend down with a stick to draw a crude map in the dirt. He used a pile of sticks to represent the little village. That was where they were supposed to regroup. "I will survey from the sky. If this Bijuu beast truly is there, do not do anything to antagonize it or get its attention." he would give basic instructions. They were Chuunin and above in rank, perfectly capable of making sound judgment in a bad situation. He just wanted to emphasize NOT antagonizing the beast, because even he felt that no matter how many explosives he might have, it probably wasn't enough. If the two of them had anything to add, he would wait before mounting his soft white clay autonomous bird and reach towards its beak, feeding the three scrolls to the beast. 

If either of the two allies had any questions about why he chose to feed the scrolls to the bird, he would explain. "This is a secret mission by our respective Kage. The scrolls are vital evidence that we can't allow Chozogakure to obtain. If they knew the situation, they might take advantage of Johogakure's sudden weakness." It was a somber thought, one that Rei specifically zeroed his seemingly-closed eyes towards Makoto on. Although their villages were allies, Shikigakure also shared an alliance with Chozogakure. Any aid by Shikigakure could easily tip the balance of power between the two warring villages. If the two did not object to his plan, he would wait for them to mount his large bird and take off into the sky swiftly. High into the air they would soar, flying for several long minutes before the miniature mountain form of the Bijuu would come into distance. Although Rei never stopped smiling: inside, he felt a small sense of dread at approaching such a beast. He was the team leader for this mission however and would stick to the plan. On his signal, he would lower the bird to the top of the ground- as the trees in this area had already been obliterated. The two on the ground would have to use low hills, dirt mounds, debris and whatever else was in their arsenal to make sure that this Bijuu didn't notice them. Then Rei flew back upwards, higher and higher until his bird was far above the head of the Bijuu. Where did the name "Bijuu" even come from? he had to ask himself.

Jutsu:

Homura gave a low glare at the second boy to arrive on the scene. He called himself a Hyuuga and declared that he was a Special Jounin from Shikigakure. The troublemaking Uchiha was aware of Shiki's status compared to Chozo and Joho. It was a village that aired on the side of neutrality between Chozogakure and Johogakure. With that said, that still didn't mean she trusted the village. They were neutral, but it also meant that they could choose either side at any moment. They were like a viper waiting for the wolverine and the eagle to wound each other so that they could come in and snatch whatever prey was the weakest. Homura knew what a shinobi from Chozogakure wanted and thus she could accept their presence. A shinobi from Shikigakure, however? They were mysteries. Homura hated mysteries.

She didn't hide her dislike for the ninja's appearance either. She openly scowled at the Hyuuga and turned her head away whenever he glanced at her, giving the boy a hard "Hmph" to show that she wasn't accepting of him. When Rei started giving off information about their mission it almost appeared that Homura wasn't listening. She was lazily looking around, moving from picking her ears to picking her nose, and seemingly mindlessly staring off into space. When it came time to actually go on the move, that was when Homura appeared to be paying attention.

"Woah! This is so cool!" Homura shouted as she watched the bird grow into a rideable size. "What type of ninjutsu is this?!" She was impressed. It wasn't every day that she saw a construction out of chakra move and act on its own. She was the second one to climb aboard the bird and ride it. When she saw Rei feed the creatures the scroll, she was the first to react. "Aaah! What was that for?! That was important!" She got her explanation immediately after. Though she might not have liked what he did, she saw the logic behind it, so she quieted down.

The ride to the small village was mostly filled with Homura going "Oooo" and "Aaaah" as they soared above the trees. This was the most convenient and fun form of transportation Homura had ever experienced! She would have to get information from this Kaguya creep later of the way to perform this jutsu of his'.

"What the heck is that..." As they got closer to the drop-off point, the picture of a giant black mountain kept getting closer. It was surely something Homura never saw before. She new mountains to look more grey and green, or even sandy in color to match with the earth. However, this mountain looked very unnatural.

When they finally made it to their destination, Homura landed on the ground swiftly and started moving immediately. Her cloak was in her hand as she prepared to use it at any given moment. She was quick to travel her natural speed while she made her way west, the direction Rei told her to go. Guess she was paying attention to his words after all, heh. For some reason, the place seemed like a wasteland, with trees either uprooted or obliterated from the ground. That was a very telling sign of the dangers to come. Thus, Homura was very cautious about how she approached the village. She wouldn't move forward without cover provided, and she would check that mountain to see if it was active as she moved. To circle around the large "bijuu" at a safe enough distance and make their way to the village was their goal. Homura planned on doing just that. Though, she made sure to take a glance at the mountain as she went just to see if there anything to note of it.

Makoto would stand as a witness as things begin to happen. There were a couple things wrong with the whole situation in general. For starters, between the two villages they chose 3 ninja to locate and inspect something named a Bijuu, which none of them had any previous intel about or were able able to fight the Bijuu and win. The second thing off about the situation that Makoto had noticed was that he was the only ninja from Shiki so he had expected not to know the other two but the other two didn’t know each other each other either, and they were from the same village. While entertaining his thoughts Makoto would notice the girl having a distaste for him, it didn’t bother him any. Uchiha were known to be power hungry nin in general. That’s the whole reason Chozo and Joho don’t get along so if anthing Makoto should have distaste for her. But as he did with every other negative thing, he would smile at her ‘hmph’.

Lastly, this man that was leading had something off about him. Makoto had noticed his hands in his pouches a couple of times but this time he brought something out. He would pay close attention to the man’s hands as they would produce a bird that grew into a larger being, what was it made of exactly? Makoto didn’t know but it was something from that pouch of his. Makoto would look as the man picked up a stick and began with his explanation. They weren’t capturing the beast they were just gaining intel, which happened to be Makoto’s type of ordeal. The man would make a couple draws with the stick as Makoto took a more relaxed stance as he would glance at other things around him although still being able to pay close attention due to the byakugan. Within a couple seconds the man was done as he fed the scrolls to the bird. Makoto would hone into the man’s explanation to the girl’s question of this mission being top secret as he could feel the sense of distrust between the other two ninja and himself.

Distrust between the two villages was expected before Makoto took this mission as he also had no desire to change it. Makoto didn’t like the Joho ninja, but he didn’t hate them either. It was sort of passive, just as his village treated them. But it was the same for the Chozo nin, as they were a kill on site ordeal as far as the two other villages were concerned. Although Makoto really didn’t have an opinion for the two villages and their nin, he did know this. He personally would side for Joho if things got out of hand as to get to Shiki you had to go through Joho, Joho was not the village you wanted to be an enemy with especially with being so close. Makoto would give himself a few stretches before boarding the bird as he was the last one as he would sit on the back.

Once lift off happen Makoto would try to figure out the mystery to this mysterious man, first things first was figuring out what the bird was made of. Makoto would rest his hands on the bird leaning back as it seemed he was in a relaxed position but actually he was feeling the texture of the bird as he knew immediately, not many textures like it. It was soft clay, easily moldable but that wasn't it. There had to be something else as who would have soft clay jutsu just to have it, it had to produce something more. Also, that confirmed what was in the pouch of the man’s, it was soft clay as he would reach in it to grab clay and use chakra to expand it. Weird. Makoto was rudely interrupted by his thoughts as he saw it before anybody else were to look due to his Byakugan. It was it, the Bijuu they called it. He would speak to the squad right before they landed. “It has a human head, and a spider bottom.” Makoto would scratch his head, as he noticed the spider bottom looked dangerous, it was nothing like he had ever seen before. Makoto would nod at Rei and wave his hand at the girl before departing his route to the East. He would move swiftly as he made his way around the big crater, being a couple hundred meters away from the craters edge to make sure he didn’t interact with the Bijuu. Makoto liked Rei’s idea due to the fact that he got to see the Bijuu for himself and closer. The beast was filled with bones from head to toe, or rather spider leg. It was a pretty big beast as well. ‘No wonder they sent us.’ Makoto would think as he continued to make his way to the village, it would be a long day indeed.

Homura Uchiha was mesmerized by Rei's beautiful clay creations, though Rei was unwilling to explain his techniques. It was a matter of secrets and he preferred his secrets to not be revealed. Even if the Uchiha girl was a part of his village. Additionally, there was a shinobi from Shikigakure there.. And he was less verbal about his like or dislike about the jutsu. He was a quiet young man, Rei didn't like the quiet reserved types. He remained quiet himself over the duration of the flight, although he could tell that both the Uchiha girl and Hyuga boy were enjoying themselves with the experience of flying like a bird. It would have been so easy to kill either of them, just kick them right off the side of the bird and drop a landmine beside them as they fell. No one would be any the wiser to their demise. He'd have a nice set of Sharingan and Byakugan to sell or even make his own. But no, he wouldn't do that. He had very little interest in Doujutsu himself, at least not unless his somehow were rendered ineffective. In that case, both of the doujutsu present would prove advantageous. There were many who may covet such an eye power, but Rei saw such things as a clutch: a gap in power and skill that a shinobi made up with relying on their visual perception and ocular powers too much. Rei had the perfect technique for defeating such foes, so the eyes themselves seemed mostly useless to him. Therefore, he had little to no desire in killing the two shinobi on this mission. They were a part of his mission after all. It would look bad if he returned unscathed and both of them had died somehow.

Of course given the situation, once their eyes had feasted on the mountainous monster before them- Rei saw many possibilities. Short-term and long-term possibilities. He had kept his fox-like smile the whole way, but his mind was turning faster than his swift bird could fly.

Once they had gotten close enough to drop the two younger shinobi to the ground, Rei flew up high again. Much higher than he normally did, to avoid the lingering gaze of the idle Bijuu. Why is it just standing there?... he thought to himself, curious as to why the creature wasn't doing anything but seemingly to breathe. As if the creature had sensed his thoughts, it began to move. It moved towards the West side, closer to the location that Rei had sent Homura to scout. Rei just watched silently, more curious than concerned as to what would happen. He circled around a few times instead of flying straight to the supposed small farming village's location. The Bijuu would continue West, each spider-like leg taking one powerful step forward and sending large rocks and dust flying as it moved. Rei reached into his pouch just in case, but he watched passively. There was little chance he could save the Uchiha if the creature found her. "It appears to have sharp senses." he said out loud, bemused at the turn of events. He hadn't expected such a large creature to take notice of such a small being. 

This Bijuu continued to walk forward however, two steps, three steps at a leisure pace until after several steps- it arrived nearly in front of where Homura was located. Assuming the young Uchiha managed to hide their presence, the Bijuu would look around, sniffing, red eyes darting back and forth as it searched the wreckage of the forest for signs of life. If Homura hadn't hid herself, the Bijuu would attempt to smash the girl flat with extreme speed, using one of its spider-like legs as a spear. If she had hid herself, the Bijuu would become enraged that it couldn't find its prey. A loud roar would erupt its gaping maw, followed by a stream of what appeared to be pollen that exuded from all over its body. This pollen would extend outward, encompassing the area in a thick haze that made it difficult to see. From his scene above, Rei could only guess that this was a defense mechanism of the beast. Homura would find out otherwise however. If her sharingan wasn't strong enough to resist, Homura would find herself in agony after breathing in the pollen. Blood would seep from her eyes, her fingernails would melt off and she would find breathing very difficult. This was merely a genjutsu, but would Homura know the difference and be able to resist screaming out in agony and writhing in pain? The Bijuu continued to watch silently then, waiting for the signs that its Genjutsu would catch its prey and give away its location.

Important:

You can't be serious... Homura is scared shitless when she notices that the monster is starting to move. Her eyes are wide with shock as the mountainous beast turns. Did it notice me? she questions as she sees it lift its legs towards her way. How could a demon so large notice such a small creature like Homura? She was a mere ant compared to its humongous size. She was also silent and careful when she moved. She was sure the creature would pay her no heed. And yet, here it was coming her way, kicking up dust and rocks with every step and causing tremors as if it was a walking storm. Homura had to do something before she became this thing's next meal.

There had to be three reasons why this creature spotted her. One of them probably had to do with its eyesight. There were animals in this world with terrific eyes. A cat could see in the dark, an eagle could spot its prey from several miles into the air, and even deers and elk had an excellent set of visual scopes to spot predators from afar. There was no surprise to Homura if the beast had spotted her with its eyes. The second reason had to be its smell. It probably had some acute sense of sniffers that picked up her presence from afar. It must've smelt her as weaker prey since she was the female of the group, thus it went for her first. A regular dog 's nose was pretty strong, but a demonic nose was probably the strongest. Lastly, it was possible that it sensed her by sensing her chakra. If that was that case, then she was probably screwed no matter what she did.

Whatever the reason, Homura was never the type to admit defeat so easily. Thus, she acted to counter all of the beast's senses if possible.

Her backpack comes off. She drops things as she is moving. Small things like paper tablets, action figures that she's come to enjoy, and a few electronic devices that she normally carried to pass the time. All of these items are things that she's had a lifetime of interactions with. A lifetime for her to wipe her scent all over them so that they'd throw off any animal's trail who relied on their snout to find her. She places them behind objects so that the monster does not spot them once it arrives. After doing such, she hides. When the beast comes, she is behind a large dirt mound. One of the many that now encompass this barren wasteland. Whatever battle that had taken place here, she was happy that it existed, for now, it is a guessing game for the monster to determine which mound she is behind. Is she behind the one that is furthest from it? Or maybe she is behind the one that is the nearest to it? Maybe she isn't behind a mound at all, but underneath that low hill next to it? Or, maybe she is behind those debris a bit ways away? She hides her presence as cleanly as she can so that the beast doesn't find her. She is a ninja, this was what she was trained to do. She would not let the creature kill her.

Homura patiently waits for the monstrosity to make its next move. It does not find her at first. It begins to sniff the air. Homura is sure that everything inside of her has stopped working. Her heart has stopped pounding as she couldn't hear it anymore, and her breath has stopped taking in air. She anticipates the creature's next action and expects that she would be killed. She closes her eyes and waits for the moment of her imminent death.

And then the beast howls a thunderous, destructive howl that shakes the very earth around Homura. The Uchiha quakes too, fear bursting from her pores in the form of sweat. She is terrified as she shakes along with the dirt, the debris, the ground. Get it together, Homura she tells herself inwardly to calm her mind. She bites on her arm to deliver to a shock of pain so that the fear would not end her. It works. She calms down. The beast has stopped roaring. However, now it has done something else. Homura looks from over the dirt mound just a bit to see what it was doing. That was when she noticed it.

Gas extends from the creature's body and covers the entire area. Homura ducks down and inhales a deep breath before the pollen could get to her. She takes in as much of the good, clean air that she could before she is covered in that thick and nearly blinding smog. She attempts to hold in her breath with the fresh air that she's stored in her lungs. To make sure that the air doesn't leave her so quickly, she covers her mouth with her fingers and begins to pray that the monster would leave her alone.

Makoto as he had been doing all day would be on the sideline as things began to unfold. The beast was big, bigger than he thought we he first saw it. The spider legs he thought he saw, were real as they were big and seemed to be extremely sharp. The head alone on the beast was huge, almost as if it was eaten Makoto like it was a titan for its enjoyment, it was capable. Makoto would watch as it made its move towards Homura who Makoto could see due to his thermal as he saw the girl behind the huge mound of dirt. There was nothing Makoto could do, he didn’t want to distract it as he couldn’t fight it by himself. Rei was in the sky, and Makoto knew nothing of his skill set other than it produced clay as well as all 3 of them had very specific orders to not provoke the beast. Makoto watched carefully as the beast would make it’s way to her. One pounding beat at a time, Makoto would feel each step as it rattled the ground below him. Makoto would throw up a silent prayer for the girl as he would move backwards a couple jumps putting himself behind a dirt mound just in case the beast wanted to change directions, he would have a head start. Although Makoto put himself farther back he always kept contact with the girl and the beast as he didn’t want to miss a beat. As the beast inched closer Makoto would look in the sky for Rei as it took no time for him to find him as he recognized the big bird made by chakra. Seeing that Rei was the leader of the mission and apart of her village and Makoto had only taijutsu to offer, saving the young Uchiha would be strictly for him to handle.



Makoto continued to watch as the beast stopped right in front of the girl and took as the beast began to sniff. Makoto tensed up hoping the girl had done everything she could to mask her presence as they didn’t know the skills of the beast. Could it smell you from afar? Could it hear your heartbeat? Could it sense your chakra? These were questions that Makoto had that needed to be answered in case of the next time he ran into one. Makoto would notice the beast had become quite irriatated that the beast could not find her as he became enraged and began to release a stream of pollen. It was chakra based, Makoto would watch and pay close attention to the girl as this was one of two things. Either A) This was a ninjutsu to cause the girl to react and make her move from her spot with actual pain or this was B) a genjutsu, which even if she didn’t move do to the pain from a mental spot Makoto would be able to detect it do to her Chakra Pathway System. He would sit and watch the girl’s response to determine what this beast used to find prey or protect itself.

A long moment of silence as both Homura and the beast waited each other out. This Bijuu was an ancient thing, a being of immense patience and far more intelligence than it let on. It would wait patiently for lo long, that even Homura would feel as though they wouldn't be able to hold out any longer and give in to the dust. Just as Homura would think she was at her limit, there would be movement not fifty meters to her left: a domesticated cow from one of the ruined farms began to go into a frenzy. Clearly the beast was mad, a byproduct of the haze that now encompassed the area. The Bijuu quickly caught onto the commotion and acted. Instead of using one of its spidery legs, it used its elongated human-like arms instead. The swift motion from its right hand shook the ground and forced air currents passed Homura as the beast quickly grabbed the livestock and picked it up into the air. The force of its swinging arm cleared the dust from around Homura, allowing the girl to breathe safety by coincidence. If Homura dared to peek from her hiding spot, she would see the Bijuu hold the cow up as if it were a gummy bear and drop it into its gaping maws with a sickening crunch.

Satisfied, the beast turned its back to Homura's position. The beast wandered aimlessly, meandering about the area to pick up scraps of humans and animals alike to stuff its gullet. Each time one of its spidery legs picked up and moved the Bijuu forward, the whole ground would shake.

Rei was already gone at this point. There was little he could do by himself against such a creature- he was certain he could wound it, but he had clear orders to not antagonize the creature if it proved as bad as the rumored said. Instead, he focused on the mission. While Homura and Makoto had been distracted to the very last second with the Bijuu, he had given up hope for the girl and maybe even Makoto. He flew away during the time the beast grabbed the cow. He had flown to the location of the village, or was supposed to be the village. His feet touched lightly on the smooth stone surface, a crater quite deep into the ground. Had there not been debris of houses and even corpses every so often, he wouldn't have realized this was the site of the destroyed village. The size of the small village in comparison to Joho was quite small... but the explosion radius was very large. This creature could kill thousands of villagers with one attack.. he would realize to himself, equally amused as he was sickened.

Rei liked to kill, even mercilessly... but he saw no point in killing so many weak people. There was always a point or method to his killings... This Bijuu was just as it was described. A beast. He walked over to the closest corpse he could find- just a shred of a man, a farmer. The majority of his lower body was gone, as well as the left half of his torso. Mostly just the right half of his torso, his head and his right leg remained. Assuming Homura and Makoto weren't annihilated by the beast, they should have arrived around that time. Rei would reveal his findings to the two of them with his fox-like smile as he held up the half-corpse in one arm, he would point to its wounds with the other hand and began to speak. "This attack was chakra-based. The way it disintegrated the most of this man's body and the entire village, it was most definitely a powerful chakra attack. Tell me. Did the two of you find anything?" He didn't need their approval or verification: he was in fact, an expert on explosives himself. Pure explosives were more messy. He made no mention of not helping Homura. For two reasons mostly. First, the Bijuu would have found Homura before he could save the girl. Second, the village had sent them out there for the sole purpose of recon. They had clear instructions to not antagonize this beast. Homura was serving her village. If she had died, that was that. Not only is it massive in size... but it is capable of chakra attacks of this magnitude as well. We would need a handful of powerful shinobi to defeat this thing... Or an army.

Homura is safe from the gas but she's still vulnerable to the beast. It does not do anything after. It does not move, it does not strike. It is waiting. Homura knows that it can't pinpoint her location, so it waits for the moment where she gives in. Maybe it wants her to inhale the pollen? It was likely poisonous. Once she inhaled it, she would probably go insane, with screams and the like divaricating from her to reveal her hiding place. This was a method of drawing her out, but what the monster would do once it saw her was something Homura didn't want to imagine.

Homura waits along with the creature. It is a stalemate moment where nothing is done. A standoff to see which would break first, the monster or Homura. The breath in her lungs slowly drains, however; making it a risk for her to hold herself any longer. It becomes a hassle for her. The pressure of feeling herself lose the last bit of air that kept her sane slowly build itself. Homura struggles not to breathe this possible toxic gas. She finds tears slowly falling from her eyes as she knows the truth of what would come next. She was only human. Sooner or later she would have to take in the air around her. Sooner or later, she would lose. There is a final prayer from any god in this universe that she would be able to survive this- that she would not die. She feels that final bit of air she stored leave her, and she is aware that this is her end. One final tear rolls down her cheek before-

There is a commotion far from her. She turns her eyes to check out the scene at the same time the monster does. There is a cow that had just been driven mad. It bucks and hops around a small space, mooing as if it was being killed internally. It must've been the gas that made it act this way. Before, the beast was silent to the point where Homura didn't notice it. Now it screamed as if the world was crashing down on it. There were no external changes to the bull from what Homura could tell. The outside of its body had no physical effects, but what about the inside? Before Homura could even figure it out, the monster swung its arm after the animal.

It was so fast that Homura barely caught it. The beast's arm slung after the cow with a movement Homura could never hope to read. In fact, its speed was so fast that the gas around it blew away from Homura, clearing it completely just from the shockwave of the movement. Homura gave a gasp as the air was clear now, allowing her to take in a large puff. She breaths nice and long, letting the fresh, clean wind refill her lungs. She doesn't celebrate the fact that she can breathe for long, however. She hears a commotion from the creature behind her. Carefully, she looks over the mound, catching a slight glance at the thing. It was so terrifyingly large and ugly. The size alone was enough to bring fear to her. But, knowing that it was incredibly quick and powerful too? It made her realize just how stupid Homura was for agreeing to this mission.

She saw the creature hold up the cow then she saw it drop the animal into its mouth where it crunched the poor beast into paste and swallowed it down its throat, bones and all. This behemoth wasn't just a giant monstrosity, it was a literal demon. It fed on flesh, be it animal or human, and Homura had the sinking feeling that she would be next if she wasn't careful. Thankfully, it didn't remain near Homura for long. It turned its back to her and started fishing through the debris for dead humans and animals.

This was as good of a chance as any to escape. While it focused on searching for its next meal, Homura moved. However, she didn't move sporadically or hastily. It was a slow movement from one mound to the next, and as far away from the creature as possible. If she thought the creature was about to see or notice her, she would duck behind something and wait for the beast to go back to doing what it was before. It would be a slow progress to get away. Even when she was far enough away, she would move carefully, ducking behind debris that were big enough to hide her and making sure that no sound radiated from her person.

Assuming she made it safely away from the monster, she would head to the village where the rendezvous point was. For some reason, she wouldn't be happy to see Rei standing there with that stupid smile of his'. Maybe it was the fact that she had almost died, but she would seem very testy than how she was before. She would bend over and catch her breath, as she had to hold it more in order to make it out of the fog. "Did I find anything?! Do you even have to ask?!" she would growl once Rei finished his report. "It eats things. Animals, people, anything. That's why it came to this village. It was hungry. it wanted to feast. Probably, when it stops finding people to eat here, it's going to move on. It's going to keep going until it runs out of food from the looks of it." Homura would take another deep breath. The air felt good. She made sure to enjoy as much of it as possible. "It can emit some type of pollen. The pollen is fine if you don't breath it in. I'm not sure about constant exposure. A cow breathed it in, though. I saw how it acted. It looked like it was in pain, but there were no signs of pain outside its body. Possibly? It's a type of gas that attacks internally." She would then look to the Hyuuga assuming he made it to the village too. "What about you 'Mr. Chakra Seeing Eyes' Did you see the mist while I was about to get my ass eaten? Please tell me you actually saw something." Yep, Homura would definitely be a lot testier than she was before.

Makoto would continue to watch the beast as it came close to eating Homura, if she wasn’t inhaling, she sure had a high tolerance for breathing. Makoto would watch as both Homura and the beast turned to the side as Makoto could slightly hear the cries of a cow far off in the distance as the beast would make its way down to the beast. Makoto could've sworn that the beast would've pierced the cow with its spider leg but instead its humanized arms grabbed it and ate the cow with a crunch, bones and all.

Makoto’s mouth would drop at the sight of the greedy monster as he would remember the objective Rei had given him. Get to the village. Makoto would begin to move swiftly through the dirt mounds making sure to keep out of sight with the beast seeing that he didn’t want to be in the same predicament as Homura. Upon arriving to the village Makoto would see Rei and arrive at the same time as Homura. He took a glance at her as his byakugan was still activated and his eyes tensed as ever. Her chakra seemed to remain intact as well as her skin and flesh and things of that nature. He could tell she was a bit shaken up from the interaction with the beast as he would listen to Rei ask about how they felt about the beast. Makoto was always speaking last within Shiki so this wasn’t any different when it came to this group.

Makoto would listen as the girl spoke frantically about the beast trying to eat everything. It was public knowledge though, as it ate the cow but he let it slide due to her facing a near death experience. Makoto would look at Rei and Homura as he knew they expected input from his side due to his doujutsu, the byakugan.

“The pollen mist that was let loose was chakra. I figured that if it affected you immediately due to actual injuries it would be ninjutsu but as we can see you weren’t affected by that. So, I figured it would be genjutsu after that, but I never saw your chakra system waiver into a genjutsu. Yes, the gas could attack internally but I think with a beast of this strength and caliber that it wouldn’t have a jutsu that crippling to only have to inhale for it to be effective. I'm going with a genjutsu.” Makoto’s eyes would look down at his shoes as he put his hands in his pocket thinking about how they were to beat this beast in the first place. “I suppose we would need extreme strength to beat this beast head on, especially with genjutsu. We would all have to get stronger.” Makoto would glare at Rei, although he was the strongest he wasn’t excluded.

He just smiled, it was probably what he did best. Even better than blowing stuff up. His smile held no visible reading for the two younger shinobi to gauge his sentiments from, nor did his body language tell them anything because he hid the majority of his body under that white robe. He was an enigma, yet he was also the most pragmatic. Rei dropped the half-obliterated corpse that neither of the doujutsu shinobi seemed to take note of. For having two of the most powerful eyes in the shinobi world, they seemed to have missed the most obvious and dangerous threat. "So it's quite agile for the size of its body... But it also has some  sort of gas or pollen effect that invokes Genjutsu. Good work on those discoveries, they will be invaluable to our villages." He paused then for a moment, the silence from his smooth voice accentuating his gaze. His eyes were actually open! If Homura and Makoto were to follow his gaze, their own eyes would be drawn to the bloody corpse at Rei's feet. 

He would look up then, making actual eye contact with the boy and girl. That was how significant this matter was: and yet, neither of them knew that no one living actually knew what his eyes looked like. He had always kept his fox-like smile as a mask. He now stood before them revealed, and that was just as dangerous as this beast. If ever the day that these two lost their value to him or his village: they would die. For now though, they held plenty of usefulness- even if at the moment, he was having to point out something very specific. Their lack of situational awareness in this turn of events was what lead their misfortune to having seen his eyes. No one lived longer after having looked him in the eyes. He still smiled of course, but his aura suddenly seemed more sinister and his eyes seemed to pierce right through the Hyuga and the Uchiha. "The more pressing concern is that we are actually standing in the middle of what used to be this small village." he would then raise both arms, covered by his long sleeves as he physically signified all around. The devastation. He stomped lightly with his foot to also emphasize his point. The three of them stood on a smooth surface, flat rock that seemed to have been cut by a master masonry smith.

"Genjutsu and physical power are two things that a village can contend with... But what do you make of this village? Though small in comparison, it is roughly one tenth the size of Johogakure. It was Johogakure's third main farm for grains and meats. I happen to be an expert on bombs and I can tell you that this village was obliterated by an immense chakra bomb." he would leave the rest of the deduction up to Makoto and Homura. An attack of that nature could quickly wipe a village off the shinobi map.. Not to mention, with Johogakure's third major farming production facility being destroyed, the village would face a small economical crisis. To further compound the problem, the village had received thousands of refugees from the surrounding areas. The threat of a giant demon on the loose, and the overcrowded population of the village, mixed with the sudden shortage of their food productions would cause the village considerable complications. It is almost as if the Bijuu attacked this location on purpose and scared the people into gathering in one large spot... He thought to himself, getting a small understanding to the beast's methodical ways. Little did the three of them know, this Bijuu was much more intelligent than it let on. Had Homura really barely escaped with her life? Or had the Bijuu simply been toying with its prey?

Not wanting to seem vulnerable from his own thoughts, Rei took up his typical fox-like smile once again. He lowered his hands to his sides and began to walk around as he listened for anymore insight the two younger shinobi might have. Truth be told, he was in a bad mood now. Genjutsu and its large powerful body were one thing. He figured if he had enough explosives, he could just blow it up... But this demon could shoot chakra bombs and destroy whole villages! This creature's appearance would ruins his carefully laid plans if it continued. He really wanted to fly up high and drop his biggest bomb onto the beast to see if it had any effect... but he knew that the information they had gathered, was much too valuable to the two villages, to risk losing if they antagonized this "Bijuu" "Bijuu" he would say, allowing the word to roll off his tongue as soon as the word came to his mind. He would pause in his walking about the destroyed village then, turning back to Homura and Makoto. His fox-like smile faced them like a pointed sword, his eyes threatening to open again if neither of them seemed to understand where he was going with this. Who knew for certain what would happen if his eyes opened fully a second time. 

The most simple and brutal truth in this bizarre scenario was... Where did the name "Bijuu" come from? Who coined it? Who passed it along to the refugees, whom passed it along to the village officials? We are missing pieces of this puzzle. A name like that doesnt just come from nowhere. Someone knows something about this demon's appearance and they are remaining silent for some reason. He deduced, suddenly feeling very insecure about this recon mission. It was possible that the three of them were being watched even now: Rei glanced about in a serious manner, looking for advantageous positions to be watching their position. He didn't possess a Byakugan, but Makoto did! "Makoto. Put that doujutsu of yours to use and see if you can find anyone still alive." he would instruct the Hyuga in a demanding tone. It was rude and somewhat out of character for the quiet intelligent and mildly friendly angle he had given his relations to them. Rei's suspicion was, that their recon mission was reversed and they were being used to gather information! But from whom? Or what? His senses were sharp and his guard was up. If Makoto or Homura held even the slightest sense of battle, they would realize that Rei's demeanor had shifted dangerously.

Makoto:

"Eh, a Genjutsu..." Homura didn't think that she liked the Hyuuga's reasoning and explanation. There could've been more to go on, but he just went with a guess from the sound of it. She didn't voice her opinion, though. She'd let the Hyuuga believe what he wanted while she kept an opened eye for the possibility that he was right and that the gas did in fact put people under a Genjutsu.

After Rei opened his eyes, the male would see that Homura was visually unaffected by it. What did they think was scarier? A man her size with a creepy expression, or a giant demonic beast the size of a mountain? After literally being underneath the so-called "Bijuu," Homura stopped caring for the small things. Anything less sizeable and powerful as that Bijuu was no-longer frightening or creepy to her. Though, Homura did notice Rei's strange gaze at the body, almost as if he was telling them to pay attention to something. Homura found this odd. Rei had already given them his report on the village. A giant chakra bomb had descended upon it, likely caused by that Bijuu. Was there supposed to be anything else to look at?

The Uchiha gave both boys a sigh before walking to stand near a wall. She took a gander at what was left of the village... As a whole, almost every part of it was destroyed, with a giant crater inside the center with no seeming end to the bottom. A shiver ran over her at the sheer thought of how that happened. The creature was incredibly fast for its size, incredibly powerful, could discharge possible deadly gas on an entire area, and had the ability to fire off a chakra bomb. "Bijuu Bomb?" she spoke openly, naming the possible death move that the monster had.

After thinking on Rei's words, Homura glanced to where the "Bijuu" now had its massive form. "It's not just the village," she noted. "The shockwave from the blast of the bomb... It extended far out to the forest too. It's not just the power of this bomb that's frightening, but the radius of it too... To be honest, it's a wonder how anyone survived and was able to send a message to our villages."

Homura quiets herself as Rei asks Makoto to use his dojutsu. Was there something the male picked up on? "Like I said, I don't think anyone survived..." Homura says. It was a strange request for Rei to make to the Hyuuga. He should know similar to her that no one could've made it out of this massive chakra bomb alive. So why would he suddenly ask Makoto to check for life? Unless...

"Do you think someone is watching us?" She says this as she covers her mouth and speaks in a barely audible voice towards Rei so that no one can read her lips or hear her words. It was indeed queer that anyone would survive this explosion to the point where they'd be able to send a message about the creature. What was more strange was the name given for the monster. "Bijuu." If shinobi of Johogakure weren't aware of the creature or what it was called then how did the messenger know its name? Homura had never heard about any stories of a Bijuu before. Whoever sent that message possibly knew something more than anyone else did. Whoever sent that message probably sent it to set the villages up. "How should we go about handling them?"

Makoto would hear the thud from the half-obliterated corpse that dropped from Rei, how could he have missed such a thing he would think to himself but after careful thought it was most likely due to him worrying about the Uchiha rather than what the man was holding. It wasn’t that Makoto didn’t trust the man who called himself Rei it was more along the lines that he was mysterious, as well as he had a white robe that covered a long of his body not allowing either of them to see anything. Nevertheless, Makoto would listen to the man as he critiqued Makoto’s intel, as he would nod his head as Rei seemed to agree on his idea for Genjutsu rather than ninjutsu. He would mention the intel being good for the villages, but Makoto wasn’t even sure he would get back to his village alive.

Within a few moments Makoto had seen the man’s eyes, on a usual occasion seeing a man’s eyes weren't that big of a deal, but this man was different as Makoto hadn’t seen his eyes before this was getting serious although the man was still smiling. Makoto would nod his head in agreement as Rei mention that this village was the most pressing village of all seeing that it had been quite obliterated by the beast, which was the only thing that Makoto could come to sense with being able to destroy a village at this caliber. Makoto would listen to the man as he explained a bunch of Joho’s personal things, as maybe he did trust Makoto as an ally. Through his speaking Makoto would catch onto one thing, as it happened to be something that glared out in Rei’s little speech. He mentioned that he was an expert in bombings. Makoto was an expert in Taijutsu because that is what he practiced all the time all his life but this. Makoto would wake up his mind on the dot, whatever the man was good in. It involved explosions and bombs; Makoto would keep a mental note in his head. Bijuu Bombs were what the two had been calling it. This was starting to get extremely dangerous.

Makoto would notice Rei started to get serious as this was starting to become a S-Class mission before all their very eyes although Makoto had no idea what it was beforehand. Makoto would begin to look around at Rei’s order to look around for something as he would catch a glimpse of something but just an outline of someone who moved extremely fast. “There was an outline of someone on the pile of rubble we had just come from. That’s all I caught. We are being watched.” Makoto would look into the distance as the Bijuu began to retreat. If something could make the Bijuu retreat, they were all in big trouble.

After the last bout of examining the present information, all three of the shinobi seemed to be on the same page with the intel. This made things much easier for their mission to be a success: this way, if at least one of them returned with the information to the villages, it would provide invaluable intelligence and allow the villages to prepare. That fact alone consoled Rei as he awaited for Makoto's Byakugan to verify his suspicions. The silver-haired man stood tense and watched Makoto's facial expression fiercely, relying on his body reaction more than his words. His words would take a couple of seconds to convey what he saw, but his body would instantly react to the information his doujutsu gave him. It was a matter of seconds, but it was plenty for Rei Kaguya. Even before Makoto began to speak, his facial reaction to seeing the movement of an individual told Rei all he needed to know. As Makoto's mouth began to form the syllables to what he saw, Rei had already brought both of his hands together inside the sleeves of his robes and began to perform several quick handseals. Tiger, Dragon, Boar, Rabbit, Snake, Dog

Just as Makoto finished confirming Rei's suspicions and the individual disappeared, the very same individual appeared from a blurry motion right behind Rei. Like Rei, he too was shrouded in a large cloak that concealed his body, even his face. Makoto's Byakugan may have been the first to see the stranger's attack, but Rei had anticipated it. He's going after the strongest with an ambush attack. This assailant doesn't intend to let us leave here alive. Rei thought to himself as he began to turn to face the attacker. He wasn't quick enough however, as the stranger performed a double-handed palm strike right into Rei's chest. The impact of the attack was strong enough to pop the air around the three shinobi and send Rei flying forcibly and violently. One moment, Rei was there getting struck in the chest, the next, he was plastered into the ground over fifty meters away and not moving.

Depending on how quickly Homura and Makoto reacted to the situation, would determine how the shrouded assailant would counter them. Though they may have been quite skilled in their own regard, they would soon come to know that the Bijuu was not the only terrifying creature in these lands. If the two tried to perform ninjutsu, the assailant would move too quickly and interrupt their handseals by smacking their hands upward with a single arm. While their balance would be off, the shrouded stranger would flick them in the chest to send them flying in a similar fashion to Rei. 

If they tried to attack him with taijutsu, he would dance between their attacks as if he could leisurely read every movement and grab them by the arm or leg and proceed to pick them up into the air and slam them violently on the ground. Once all three shinobi were incapacitated, the stranger would walk up to where Rei was staggering to stand up. He looked at Rei, surprised that his first strike hadn't been enough to stop the man's heart or crush his bones. Then he realized, this Rei had fully encased himself in a suit of white bone armor. The initial ambush attack had hit the bones before they had finished forming all the way around his body however and resulted in Rei being slow to respond. Surprised or not, the shrouded stranger was set to finish Rei off. He brought up a hand in the form of a flat surface like a knife and stabbed forward right through Rei's chest.

At the same moment Rei was stabbed, one large white figure appeared behind the assailant. With the corpse of Rei on his arm, he turned his head slightly to register the danger behind him. Only then did he realize his mistake. Instead of the large white creature behind him, Rei stood behind him smiling several meters away. The shrouded assailant attempted to pull his hand free, but felt resistance. He instinctively turned his head back around to see what was keeping his arm in place. His attacking arm was stuck inside the corpse of a soft white clay doll, which used its arms to wrap around his waist and not let go. A single handseal "Release" was the command Rei had prepared for this technique. Both the clay doll and the shrouded assailant both disappeared into a large and violent explosion. With the immediate danger out of the way, Rei would shift his eyes to see if either of his teammates were still alive or conscious.

Jutsu:

The Hyuuga uses his eyes. Homura watches with a bit of skepticism, unsure if he will catch anything. The Byakugan hasn't seemed to fail the team yet, but Homura was unaware of its full power. She looks carefully at the Hyuuga as he surveys, then watches for any change in his expression. When the Hyuuga states what he saw, Homura arches a brow towards him. "An outline? Where did they go?" It was at that moment that her question was answered. A figure suddenly appeared behind Rei. He had a cloak over himself to hide his body. Rei had no chance to respond before his physique was sent flying away.

"Crap!" Homura expressed as she attempted to dash backward. Her hands moved to form handsigns, but before she could even do anything her fingers are smacked away. The mysterious figure swats her as if she was a child that was messing with her fingers too much and needed to be hit in order to stop. She tries to center herself, but the man is too fast. Before she is aware of it, her chest is flicked with oppressive force and she is sent flying in the same manner Rei was.

"Gah!" Homura releases when her body is slammed against a wall. For a split second, her heart stops, and she is reminded of the time she was under the physique of the bijuu. Her eyes close and she feels herself slowly drift to the point of sleep. It is a wonder how she is still awake and breathing by now. A large huff is released from her, and Homura struggles to stand up. In that struggle, she falls. Some part of her is broken, but Homura isn't aware of which. she just knows that she feels immediate pain. "Shit," she says to herself as she tries to pinpoint the pain. At that moment, there is an explosion that catches her attention. Rei stands in front of a cloud of smoke that was possibly caused by him. A sigh escapes Homura, who then spits out a ball of what looked like blood from her mouth.

"You could've told us you could do that from the beginning..." She is annoyed with this entire event and it is heard in her voice.

Everything was so quick as it happened all before Makoto’s very eyes. It was all in flashes as before Makoto could get his words out a blur appeared behind Rei. If the guy were to attack Makoto next, he would have no time to begin his rotation or any other gentle fist for that matter. Makoto saw as the man would quickly interact with Rei as he striked him to the ground 50 meters away. Makoto saw the blur move to Homura as this was when he activated his technique. Gentle Fist Body Blow. Makoto would begin to expel chakra from every tenketsu point in his body as the man would palm him away as well, but the strike didn’t land as hard due to the coat of chakra Makoto had been expelling.

Makoto would slide backwards on his feet through the dirt causing a big cloud of dust as he would see Rei with his byakugan fully incased with Bone, as he gave the man another treat, it was explosions just as Makoto had assumed. This mission was indeed dangerous, and who was this man who seemed to restlessly attack them for no apparent reason and without any questions asked. Makoto would still be standing as he made his way to Rei, Homura seemed to have taken a small beating. Makoto would chuckle as she made a comment about Rei needing to have shown his skills beforehand, she should've have known he gave out a couple clues and if you happen to put them together you could've guess he used bombs and explosions to fight.  

Makoto would give his back a couple stretches as he kept his byakugan open for the man would supposedly vanished after the explosion. “Where did he go?” Makoto would mutter to Rei in response to his actions of possibly letting the attacker slip away.

Jutsu Used:

1000/1000 Chakra

The assailant could tell from his first strike, that he hadn't struck anything like flesh. After he ahd sent the older shinobi flying, he had succeeded to send the young girl flying as well. Two devastating attacks, and yet his third strike failed. Just as he was going to make contact with the young man, the Hyuga released a burst of chakra and propelled himself out of danger. Smart. He was good at running away, there was little to fear from this Hyuga. That was when the cloaked individual returned his attention to Rei. It was time to finish off the team leader. His first strike that missed, led to further failure. As the man went to finish off Rei, he found himself in a well placed trap. "....." No response from the man as he realized his arm was stuck. A single handseal from Rei brought destruction upon him in the form of a large explosion.

It wasn't enough. Yes the explosion had damaged the man, but he had simply moved at his full speed once the explosion had been released. From the appearance to the slow and untrained eye, it appeared as though his body had been obliterated in the explosion. The brief respite Rei and the other two may have felt, was short lived. "Be on your guard, he isn't dead yet!" Rei would exclaim to the wounded Homura and the wary Makoto.

As if on que: or maybe simply because Rei had disrupted his potential secondary ambush, the assailant reappeared an  easy twenty meters away. His cloak was gone and his body was exposed- and yet it wasn't. Another type of cloak covered his body and hid his identity. Just who was this man? Or  perhaps the better question was, 'what' was he? Rei thought to himself as a wave of intense chakr overtook the area like a wet blanket. Their assailant no longer stood on two feet, but on his hands and feet now, as if he were nothing more than a feral beast. His whole body was wrapped in potent chakra that gave off a thick and lustrous purple color. The only clue here, being that this man's chakra had suddenly taken on a similar attribute to the retreating Bijuu. Only sensory and doujutsu would be capable of figuring this out.

The man had come to a conclusion. His first ambush had failed even though he had successfully wounded one of them. The other two had been too agile or too strong for him to cripple. If things kept going the way they were, he was going to be the one who lost. Not out of power, but maybe teamwork. Or even the three of the shinobi splitting up and running in separate directions. If he had words to say, he said none. Only a roar escaped his purple chakra beast form as he opened his mouth and began to channel chakra from his seemingly limitless potential and began to compress it into a very tiny black orb. This orb would start out small, but would steadily increase in size until it was roughly the size of his head. "That is a chakra bomb." Rei would state in a calm manner. He was an expert on bombs, especially chakra in nature- Makoto could vouch for his assessment even with the Byakugan. The reason Rei was calm in the face of eminent destruction, was that he had a plan- a simple but daring plan. His arms went together inside his sleeves and he performed three handseals. A jutsu in preparation when the moment was right. 

"Distract him. When I give the signal, drop to the ground and cover your heads." he would say in anticipation. Despite how dire the situation had suddenly become: completing this mission, was Rei's top priority. He had gleamed some information while within close range of this individual, information that was unlikely to be known or pieced together by the other two. While returning with the findings of the Bijuu and the destruction of the farmer village was vital to Johogakure and Shikigakure, Rei had discovered another tidbit of information that would also be devastating. Yet he dared not share it with the other two- that was of course even if they survived this bizarre situation.

Of course the man was still alive. It just wouldn't be easy if he ended up dying, would it? Homura readies herself for what happens next. The being disappears from view then shows itself again a bit ways away. It is hard for Homura's eyes to keep up with this thing, which makes her a bit pissed. Weren't the Uchiha supposed to be the greatest perceptive clan on the planet? When was that power going to awaken for her?!

Eventually, the person reveals itself. The cloak drapes from their body and their true form is shown. Only... It is not a human that shows itself as the cloak leaves it, but a demon creature that Homura had never seen before. "What the fuck..." She watches as the creature starts to form something from its mouth, a tiny black ball wth power beaming from it that even Homura could feel. Rei says something about the ball being a chakra ball, alerting Homura and Makoto to the possible danger they were about to be in. He orders them to distract the creature and bide time. Upon his signal, they must hit the ground, a classic sign that Rei was readying to blow something up.

"Whatever it is you're about to do, do it quickly!"

There is nothing that Homura could do jutsu wise to hurt it at this point. Distracting it, however? That was something that was easy for her. She forms hand signs with her fingers, moving her palms quickly and with her utmost speed. When the signals are finished, she uses her Jutsu. Clone Jutsu! She thinks. Suddenly, a large puff of smoke envelops the area before 21 Homura's are shown. The Homuras do not waste a moment. They all dash at the beast from all sides, 5 at the back, 5 on the side, another 5 on the other side, and 5 at the front. There is one missing, but all of the rest are boldly making their way after the being, pretending to strike at the monster altogether.
